Small Acts, Big Impact – Building Inclusion at Work
This workshop is designed to help teams understand why inclusion matters and, more importantly, what it actually looks like in practice. Grounded in neuroscience and realworld behaviour, participants will leave with a clear picture of the everyday actions that create — or erode — a culture where everyone feels they belong.
IMPACT
When team members understand how their everyday behaviour affects the people around them, real and lasting change becomes possible. By connecting the science of how the brain responds to inclusion and exclusion with honest, practical reflection, this workshop helps teams build the foundation for a workplace where people feel safe, valued, and able to do their best work.
CONTENT
Facilitated by experts in psychological safety and workplace culture, the workshop covers:
- How Your Brain Works — Key Organising Principles: Explore the neuroscience behind why inclusion and exclusion feel the way they do, and why small everyday moments matter more than most people realise.
- Psychological Safety and Psychosocial Hazards: Understand what psychological safety is, why Australian workplaces have a legal obligation to manage psychosocial hazards, and how acts of incivility impact both.
- Why Inclusion Matters: Discover the evidence — including findings from Google’s landmark Project Aristotle — for why inclusion is a prerequisite for performance, not a nice-to-have.
- Two Sides of the Same Coin: In small groups, participants identify acts of incivility and their corresponding inclusive behaviours, leaving with a concrete and shared picture of what inclusion looks like in their specific workplace.
- Key Takeaways and Commitments: Participants surface the patterns that shape their team culture and commit to the specific behaviours that will make it stronger — together.
